REWE – LOXO (home delivery): November 2025
We Bring Autonomous Grocery Delivery to Germany
REWE and LOXO have launched a joint pilot project to bring autonomous grocery delivery to the streets of Bochum, marking a significant milestone for the future of urban logistics in Europe. With a VW ID. Buzz, powered by the LOXO Digital Driver™, operating on real delivery routes, the project represents the first real-life deployment of a Level 4 autonomous vehicle for grocery delivery in Germany. The collaboration combines REWE’s position as one of the largest e-retailers in Europe with LOXO’s autonomous driving technology to advance the next generation of urban delivery.
The deployment will demonstrate how fully automated home delivery can be integrated into everyday city life. More than a proof of technology, the initiative reflects a broader vision: to make urban goods delivery safer, more efficient, more sustainable, and ultimately more scalable. By embedding autonomous driving into an existing retail logistics operation, the project shows how innovation can move beyond testing environments and become part of real-world delivery infrastructure.
Fully integrated into REWE’s delivery operations, the autonomous vehicle enables a seamless customer experience while generating valuable operational insights for the next generation of logistics networks. Building on LOXO’s successful deployments in Switzerland, this project marks an important step toward scaling autonomous delivery solutions across Germany and beyond.
With technology developed in Europe, for Europe, the initiative underlines a shared ambition to redefine last-mile logistics for the cities of tomorrow. It is a clear signal that autonomous urban delivery is no longer a future concept, but a practical and scalable solution for building smarter, greener, and more resilient urban supply chains.
